Sound Illuminator

Come meet Paseo artist, Sasha Vom Dorp as he demonstrates how feedback loops work in his invention, the Sound Illuminator.

The Sound Illuminator is constructed out of
a nose cowling from a 727–jet airplane.
Pure tones and music are played through
speakers, creating rippled patterns and
pulsating form-bending waves, that allow the
observers to see the sound they hear.

Featuring live demonstrations showing how sound
vibrations affect matter.

The Sound Illuminator runs on a feedback loop wherein the machine talks to itself by hearing
ambient sound, translating it into color
and taking the color and translating it back into sound
which is visualized through the machine.
