For Ian Harrison, the line between science and art has always been beautifully blurred. A 3D artist, animator, and programmer, Ian brings over 14 years of experience in Blender 3D and six years of programming expertise to his role as a STEAM Team instructor with STEMarts Lab.
With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Digital Arts from the University of New Mexico, Ian’s creative work fuses fantasy with realism—channeling his lifelong love of space, video games, and science. From designing game environments to animating full-length films, his projects explore the edges of technology and imagination.
This past year, Ian served as lead animator and editor for multiple live musical visual productions before joining Syncronos Design Inc. as an IT specialist. There, he now contributes to a full-length animated film that reveals the wonder of the natural world through immersive digital storytelling. Ian also developed enemies for the indie game Botnyst and showcased an interactive projection piece in the “Edge Conditions” exhibition.
But Ian’s story with STEMarts Lab started long before all that—as a student ambassador. Today, he leads digital media arts workshops and contributes his creative coding and animation skills to STEMarts installations, guiding the next generation of 3D creators.
About the STEAM Team:
Ian’s remote internship team centers on digital storytelling through Blender, Unity, and interactive projection art. Students learn how to build immersive sci-art environments and discover how gaming, animation, and science communication intersect in meaningful ways. Whether it’s a VR prototype or a projection piece for a live festival, Ian’s team learns by making—and imagining what’s possible when art meets code.
