Augmented Reality Sky Hunt
Friday | Ashley Pond | Night Market- 5-9pm | Saturday – Discovery Day 9-2pm
Thanks to all our sponsors for bringing the STEMarts station to Ashley Pond for a fun Augmented Reality (AR) Sky Hunt. Participants scanned the QR codes at our six sites, pointed their device to the sky and discovered our student-created Space[AR]T in the sky. They captured all six objects to collect the reward, their own AR object to take home. Photos captured by participants were projected at SALA Event Center. (See below). Artists/Instructors: Ian Harrison and Julia Doke (ABQ). Ambassadors: Shaylee Mirabal (Taos Pueblo), Santy Valadez (Guadalajara). AR Developer: Alessandro Straccia. Guest science guides: Dr. Andrea Albert, LANL astrophysicist and Shane Wood, QuarkNet Staff
Live Painting in Virtual Reality
Saturday | SALA Event Center | Discovery Day 9-2pm | Discovery After Dark | 5-9pm
Special thanks to the Los Alamos SALA Event Center for hosting our interactive VR paint session led by our STEMarts Youth Ambassadors. Participants painted in 3D virtual reality or watched life painting projected in real-time.
Into the Realm of Possibilities | SciArt Exhibit
Fuller Lodge Art Center | June 28, 2024 | 4:30-7:00pm
Visit the Fuller Lodge Art Center until July 26, 2024 for the SciArt exhibit, “Into the Realm of Possibilities,” to see our installation, “Neutrino Cloud [of Probabilities]” created by Agnes Chavez (FRA Guest Artist at Fermilab), Roy Macdonald, Dr. Umut Kose and Johnnie MacArthur with Alison Johnson, AR consultant/graphic design. This mixed reality (AR) experience is inspired by neutrinos—tiny subatomic particles often referred to as “ghost particles.” Despite their minimal interaction with other matter, neutrinos are among the most abundant particles in the universe. As you activate the experience, you’ll witness generative visualizations informed by the behaviors and properties of these quantum particles. Sponsors: Fermilab and NEA
